Want to see who's going to the Reunion? Here is a list of registered shipmates. (We will update it as we receive registrations)
The hotel is the Holiday Inn Presidential. A breakfast buffet is included with the room rate of $99.00 plus a 15% state tax for $113.85 a night. You will have a choice of a king bed or two queen beds, when you call in your reservation don’t forget to state which you desire. The hotel was recently remodeled and every room has a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a Keurig coffee maker. The phone number of the hotel is 866-900-7625. Make sure you mention that you are part of the USS Caiman Reunion. Here is the hotel's web site.
You will need a credit card to pay for the first night when you call in your reservation. If necessary, cancellations can be made up to 24 hours prior to your scheduled arrival.
Parking is free. Underground parking is available and if full there is above ground parking close to the front door. The above ground parking is where empty RVs can park.
The hospitality room is located in the back to the left of the lobby.
We will NOT have sticky buns in the hospitality room as breakfast is included with the room.
The hotel has a full restaurant and bar and room service. They have free WiFi if you need it.
The address for the hotel is:
Here is a map showing where the hotel is: Map of Holiday Inn Presidential.
The phone number for the hotel is 866-900-7625. Don’t forget to mention that you are part of the USS CAIMAN REUNION.
The room rates are good for three days pre-reunion (from the 4th) and three days post-reunion (thru the 13th) based on availability.
The hotel has a FREE shuttle service with a 3 mile radius. The airport is within the 3 miles. It's 10 minutes away.
Don’t forget to mention that you are part of the USS CAIMAN REUNION when making your reservation. If you don't get the discounted group rate, call Smitty right away or send an email to one of these addresses and we will fix the problem.
For transportation to and from the airport to the hotel you have a choice of the free hotel shuttle or a cab. Their shuttle is a Silver colored Honda Odyssey with the name Holiday Inn Presidential. The hotel phone number is 866-900-7625.
The hotel has parking for empty RVs in their above ground parking area. (I wouldn't try and park it in their parking structure.)
The most recommended RV park is a short walk from the Razorback. It is the Downtown RV Park in North Little Rock.
Little Rock and North Little Rock are two separate cities with only the Arkansas River between them. It's like Budapest. The hotel and RV park are only 1.7 miles apart so if you want some exercise you can walk the short distance between the RV park and hotel. The hotel shuttle is also available.
You can rent a car at the airport from Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Thrifty and Dollar. There are no car rental offices closer to the hotel.
What to Bring
Caiman Association Meeting
IMPORTANT: On Tuesday following lunch we will have a short business meeting. The office of USS CAIMAN Vice Commander will be up for election this reunion. Dings will be hosting an open bar in the hospitality room and holding a town hall meeting to answer any questions you might have.
Trip to the USS Razorback on Wednesday
We will be touring the USS Razorback on Wednesday (5/9/2018) from 1000 to 1600. A tour bus will shuttle us down to the Razorback. It is a 10-minute round trip so to save money, we only rented one bus. It will make as many trips as necessary. The bus is ours for seven hours so return trips to the hotel will be made as required. We need to be finished by 1600 to avoid addition charges for the bus. The “crew” of the Razorback completely trusts submarine sailors so we will have the boat and the barge to ourselves all day. Everyone can spend as much time as they like on the boat and pictures are permitted. A catered buffet lunch will be available on the barge. Razorback is a Balao class submarine as was CAIMAN, but was built in Portsmouth and has Fairbanks-Morse engines. Since she was built in a different yard and has different engines, some valves and switches are in different places, but I am sure the swabs will know what each does so all the questions from our adult supervisors will be answered.
Yes, the golf tournament is on for Thursday morning if there is enough interest. Mike "Slick" Elliot is running it.
